Our Story

Every meal on the menu is carefully prepared using the traditional and family recipes of the Aguirres, a family from Jalisco, Mexico. After immigrating to the United States, they worked in a restaurant specializing in Mexican cuisine in Marshfield, WI, for a decade. They eventually decided to open up their own restaurant in the city of Onalaska—which is the Taqueria Monarca we all know today.

We combine our more than 20 years of experience in hospitality and culinary and our endless passion for Mexican cuisine to provide you with an authentic Mexican food experience. Our unique Jalisco style of cooking and meticulous food preparation process deliver exquisite meals bursting with amazing flavors.
